East West Calligraphy Exhibition at the Sala delle Quattro Porte, along the path of the Pinacoteca del Museo Correr. From 18 November 2023 to 7 January 2024
The exhibition, underlines Monica Viero, director of the Correr Museum Library, provided an opportunity for an approach to writing by hand as an artistic expression and a vehicle of knowledge and messages capable of creating a dialogue, and building an authentic cultural bridge, between East and West.
At the East-West Calligraphy exhibition, Monica Dengo and Kazuaki Tanahashi displayed their artworks on opposite walls of the Sala delle Quattro Porte. Monica Dengo occupied the wall where a 15th-century wooden Madonna with an open cloak is permanently displayed, measuring about two meters in height and two meters in width, making a site-specific installation in dialogue with the wooden sculpture. Only in one wall the works of Dengo and Tanahashi's were in visual dialogue. In addition, at the center of the room, there was one of Dengo's books, More than Mountains, dedicated to Tsering Wangmo Dhompa.
